Court Reporters located in both the Manhattan and White Plains courthouses make a stenographical record of most court proceedings. A transcript of the record is then provided upon request. The fees for this service vary based upon the format and delivery time requested.
In addition, some court proceedings are recorded electronically, but a transcript of an electronic court recording (ECR) must be requested through Courtroom Technology.
Court reporters also offer Realtime Reporting which allows a court reporter to publish live testimony to a laptop. Inside the courtroom, the court reporter can set-up the attorney’s laptop to connect to the court reporting network. While the proceeding is in progress, a transcript of it is electronically transmitted to the laptop.
For Manhattan cases, request a transcript of a proceeding through Southern District Reporters or contact their office by phone.
For White Plains cases, request a transcript of a proceeding by completing and faxing a transcript request form to the White Plains Courthouse (914-467-7075).
The applicable rates are the transcript rates which may be charged by the Southern District of New York Court Reporters for government paid transcripts on orders received after October 1, 2023:
